Kidderminster-based bellows and machinery protection specialist Beakbane has been shortlisted for a prestigious national manufacturing award.
The company has been nominated in the ‘Best Supplier Partnership’ category in the 2012 Manufacturing Industry Awards. Organised by the Manufacturing Technologies Association (MTA) these awards celebrate excellence in engineering-based UK manufacturing.
The winner of the awards will be chosen from the shortlist by a public vote on the MTA Awards website. The public vote closes on 20 January.
The Best Supplier Partnership award celebrates successful relationships between a customer and supplier and Beakbane was shortlisted for its partnership with machine tool manufacturer Heller.
Heller is a global company with headquarters in Germany and a manufacturing plant in Redditch. It chose Beakbane to manufacture hundreds of heavy machine fabrications that were previously produced in-house in Germany.
To support the contract, Beakbane has invested in new plant and facilities and taken on five new staff.
Beakbane has been a supplier to Heller for over fifteen years and it was the success of this relationship that led to this major collaboration.
The winner of the MTA Best Supplier Partnership award will be announced at a gala dinner at the ICC Birmingham on 1 February.
Beakbane’s managing director Mike Southwell said: “We are delighted to have been shortlisted for this prestigious award. It is a vote of confidence in West Midlands manufacturing – and I hope that you will all vote for us on the awards website.”
